Space-time bubble

by Chiara Negrello from Florence, Italy

Since the pandemic broke out, I've asked myself the same question a million times: "Is this really happening?"

Many times this historical period has seemed like a movie.

In these days I found myself on the set of a short film to take backstage photographs. I decided, in addition to the "common" photos, to create a small story of images that did not necessarily show what was happening. A world on its own, a space-time bubble that through the patterns of light and black and white, would alienate the viewer. Elements of the past combined with people wearing masks; lights and makeup in an old house.

What would we understand without the premise? What era are we in? What is happening?

Many times in the last few months I have wondered if I was living in reality or fiction, and I would like people looking at these photos to ask themselves the same question
